Charlotte city center

About Charlotte

Charlotte, the largest city in North Carolina and one of the fastest growing cities in the US, has something for everyone! It has a lot of big-city benefits, while retaining a lot of small town charm. We host the NFL and the NBA in the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Hornets. The Charlotte Knights have a fantastic AAA baseball stadium in the heart of Uptown with beautiful views of the skyline. There is a great restaurant scene and one of the best craft beer cities in the country. We also have a lot of local artists with great studios and museums. Lake Norman and Lake Wylie lie just to the north and the south of the city respectively. NASCAR, the Whitewater Center, Carowinds, Discovery Place, Latta Plantation… too much to list for endless fun for the entire family! Charlotte’s economy is headlined by the banking industry and has become a major U.S. financial center and is now the second largest banking center in the United States (after New York). The nation's second largest financial institution by assets, Bank of America, calls the city home.

Charlotte has 199 neighborhoods radiating in all directions from Uptown. In 2012, the urban section of Little Sugar Creek Greenway was completed – this was inspired in part by the San Antonio River Walk, and integral to Charlotte's extensive urban park system. Park Road and the SouthPark area have an extensive array of shopping and dining offerings, with SouthPark essentially serving as a second urban core. Blossoming neighborhoods like Sedgefield, Dilworth and South End are great examples of that. A prominent feature of the SouthPark neighborhood is the 120‑acre Park Road Park.
